Description |
This Canadian National 73 foot 6 inch baggage car was built in 1953 by the National Steel Car Company in Hamilton, Ontario. Originally given the number 9142 by CN, it was used as an express car to deliver small priority packages and mail. Facing increasing competition from trucks for package delivery, in 1979 CN refitted the car to be a baggage car attached to passenger trains and renumbered it to 7074. After its retirement it was aquired by the ECRM to act as a rolling museum, housing displays and artifacts. It remains painted in the green and gold former CN colours to match the steam locomotive 5700. |
